About Us
Mission:
Udai is a voluntary organization committed to promoting awareness towards social issues concerning India and providing a platform for synergizing active efforts for their remediation.
Objectives:
1. To organize seminars and discussion-panels allowing exchange of information and ideas regarding various issues like health, education and social conditions in India.
2. To work in association with other voluntary organizations towards solving fundamental problems in the society.
3. To increase the participation of Indians abroad in efforts towards the development of India.
Informal description of Objectives:
1. This one can be divided into two parts:
a. Intra-group discussions: Udai members will hold regular discussion about various topics to keep themselves educated and updated about the latest developments on these fronts. This exercise can serve as a powerful source of new ideas. Also it will prove helpful in developing the personality of the members by giving them an opportunity to better understand and express the important issues.
b. Invited talks and seminars: We will try to invite eminent personalities to give talks on various topics that are of interest to our group. These events, besides being informative, will also help us in broadening the outreach of the organization amongst the campus.
2. We can work with two kinds of organizations:
a. Grass-root organizations in India: Since we are located in US, it is not very feasible for us to directly work at grass-root level in India. In turn, we will work jointly with organizations in India who are already involved in some activities and help them with new ideas, resources and criticism.
b. Other organizations in US: We can collaborate with other established organizations in US to jointly carry out projects. Such organizations may be social organizations like AID or ASHA, or they can be other Indian organizations like Chinmay Mission or the Bengali organization. Close ties with established organizations will not only increase the breadth of our work, but also provide us more resources and more ideas to further work upon.
3. There are a large number of Indians living outside India, and they are often more resourceful than their peers in the country. It will be an attempt of Udai to give more and more of these people an exposure to the issues regarding India and motivate them to work for India's development. This does not necessary mean making them a member of Udai; if they start feeling for the country and work for it, now or later, our objective will be fulfilled.
